The Final Steps
Now that you have been admitted and made a final decision on which college you will be attending, there are just a few things left to take care of before concluding a very successful college search and application process. These are all very important so be sure you follow through.
- By May 1 of your senior year, send the required deposit to the college you have selected and will attend.
- Notify other colleges where you indicated an interest in remaining on the wait list that you are no longer interested. By doing this, you won't continue to receive information from that college that you no longer need. And, you will not take the place of other students who would like to continue being considered by that college.
- Be sure to keep track of any mailings from the college. You will be getting information on orientation programs, class registrations, dormitory assignments, and other information that will be very important to you.
- Continue to work hard in school. Keep in mind that
the college requires a year-end transcript from your
high school and wants to know that you have maintained
or improved your classroom performance.
Note: Did you read the line that is part of virtually every college's letter of admission that says that admission is contingent upon successful completion of your senior year? They reserve the right to rescind your letter of acceptance if your grades drop. - Enjoy the rest of your senior year.
- Lastly, congratulations on having had a successful senior year. The Connecticut Student Loan Foundation and Invest in your Future hope you have a wonderful college experience.
